Wee Bothy by the Sea

The colours of the Scottish heather along the coastline are inspired by my recent trip back home to Scotland and the Islands. I was lucky enough to visit the Isle of Skye, Arran and Barra, all places I had never been before. Lots of beautiful coastline steeped in tradition and history. This wee bothy was painted in acrylic on canvas.
Bothies were built as workers accomodation and are dotted all over the rural landscapes of Scotland. If you visit the Outer Hebrides you will find them on hilltops overlooking the ocean or surrounded by a field of wildflowers in spring.
